Mother's Day Fitness

My FIT Mom

Happy Mother’s Day! My mom has committed and followed through on an amazing fitness effort. I want to recognize that, and I hope her story inspires others to do the same. 😊 I’m very proud of her for doing this!

When I started in health & fitness coaching in 2007, she asked me for my advice…and followed it! Moving safely, lifting weights properly, eating well, and staying active. It was great to see her stay vibrant and even improve. Now she has a consistent routine (even through the pandemic), and a small collection of home gym equipment.  Her improved core strength, bone density, muscular strength, coordination, and self-efficacy help me feel good about her daily. I love knowing she is strong, capable, and safe.

And on top of that, she supported my crazy fitness efforts by road-tripping with me to my first fitness certification.

Here Mom is cheering me on at a fitness competition.

Her milestones informed my online coaching business

The moments I was proud of her progress became the milestones and awards that I recognize in all of my online training clients. I realized that the long term duration and slow but steady success that my mom experienced was the same that I wanted to try to provide for my clients. Things like hitting a streak of 3, 7, or 21 days, program duration / longevity, non-scale victories, including others, and getting restarted after a set back.

From an IG story post two years ago.

She was first to complete 100 workouts on my app - and now has completed over 500 workouts! And this is only a snippet of her efforts. She also participates in yoga and more than “keeps up” with my brothers and me when we hike, bike, swim, raft, and camp.

Health, fitness, and wellness unlock so much life to live. Being able to participate with us is so great. ❤️❤️ Hopefully, this inspires you to always do what you can with what you have.
